Precast FAQ
- Q.1 Does your concrete ever crack?
- A.1 No, our concrete will not crack of its own accord. We guarantee it. We take great pride in our quality mix design to ensure the maximum performance. We're constantly striving to improve our product to ensure they will resist the daily wear and tear countertops endure over their lifetime. However, concrete is not "unbreakable." As with any material concrete can be broken or damaged, however the great news is...our countertops are repairable on site unlike most other materials.
- Q.2 Does your concrete stain? Is it waterproof?
- A.2 The concrete is sealed making it water and stain resistant. Additionally, wax is applied 2 times before it leaves our shop and waxed again upon installation. We recommend to our customers that they reapply a coat of carnauba wax once their top stops beading water to ensure continual protection.
- Q.3 Does CCD offer custom colors?
- A.3 Yes, we can match virtually any color you bring us.
- Q.4 Does the color ever vary?
- A.4 Occasionally. Some degree of color variation must be allowed and accepted due to changes in weather, cure time and other external issues.
- Q.5 What is the biggest size slab CCD can make?
- A.5 Approximately 7' x 3'. We have, in the past, poured slightly bigger pieces but weight, shop and transportation issues normally prohibit the fabrication of these larger pieces.
- Q.6 Can you put a hot pan on the countertop?
- A.6 Yes, but a hot pad should always be used. Please exercise common sense. If the bottom of your pot is glowing red, odds are something should be between your pot and the countertop.
- Q.7 How much can it cantilever without being supported?
- A.7 No more than 6" with 1 1/2" thick countertop.
- Q.8 How should i clean my countertop?
- A.8 We suggest any natural non-abrasive cleanser (Simple Green or equal).
